In 300 pages, this travel journal goes back to the origins of the project in Colombia and its mission to strengthen a response to a global challenge of the plastic waste thanks to the basketry.
The book A journey through 10 years of PET Lamp also reviews the difficulties along the way and the progress achieved by careful and respectful work with artisan communities on five continents.
From an archive of 30,000 photographs, A journey through 10 years of PET Lamp compiles 150 b-side portraits, which have been chosen one by one, by co-founders Álvaro Catalán de Ocón, Enrique Romero de la Llana and Sebastián Betanzo, to express their learnings, adventures and experimentation over ten years.
These images, which make visible the culture, traditions, gastronomy and natural wealth of artisan communities’s territories, are accompanied by the testimonies of renowned curators such as Ana Domínguez Siemens, Marisa Santamaría, Juli Capella and Ikko Yokoyama, who have witnessed the foundation and the evolution of this Spanish design project.
In the book, the essays and photographs are complemented by maps and figures, which aim to reflect the economic and social impact that PET Lamp has on the lives of the project collaborators: from the artisans making the lamps to the customers from more than 100 countries.
