Ibisi

The weaving tradition of the Ibisi culture in Rwanda is a deeply rooted heritage that captivated us from the very first encounter. Developed in collaboration with local artisans and MASS.Made, the Ibisi collection brings to life the unique technique of Uruhindu basketry—crafted with a bamboo structure and a delicate skin of papyrus adorned with powerful, personal motifs.
This artisanal approach, unlike anything we had seen before, inspired a new way of working with the PET bottle: sliced into strips that support both the internal skeleton and the outer papyrus layer. The result is a striking and contemporary form—elongated, almost totemic pieces that rise like cypress trees in the landscape, or obelisks in an urban setting.
Born from the heart of Central Africa, these PET Lamps embody a new chapter in our exploration of design and craft, blending ancestral wisdom with sustainable innovation.
